BuFu Nation was founded in early 1997 by four men with a rock and roll dream.
They began their quest with a garbage can for a drum and $5 worth of guitars.
Their journey was filled with hardships and pain because they sucked really bad.
Armed with only one song for one girl, they tried in vain to entertain an audience
of friends who pitied them. They were assisted with this endeavor
by Dave Davenport, a wandering minstrel,
who because of his very nature, eventually wandered away.
Then one
day BuFu Nation was besieged by evil voodoo forces and the lead
guitarist, Nick Christensen, was
assimilated. To compensate for their loss, the rhythm guitarist,
Steve Swisher, grew his hair long in hopes of becoming a
better guitarist. It didn't work, so he bought a really expensive pedal.
He couldn't figure out how to turn the pedal on, so the bass player,
Dan Davenport, was forced to seek out help.
He stumbled upon a group of musical mercenary monks who were very fond
of alliteration. They taught him to be a better musician and
covered a lot of Pearl Jam. Eventually the monks decided that their
lead singer wasn't a hot chick, so they kicked him out and hired a real
hot chick. They named themselves
Hoover Conquest and put
out an album entitiled, "Trampled by Dwarves". Dan then stole their drum
set and returned to BuFu Nation. The BuFu drummer, Matt Berg,
was confused by the new drum set and its surprising lack of garbage cans. Eventually
he got used to it by buying a guitar and practicing that instead. Then Troy Wallace arrived, and things got really weird.
Now the
band is ready to face the world. They have 20+ songs, a handful of
Arby's 'pons, and sometimes they rehearse
before shows. They continue their mission to fill the world with mad,
phat rhythms and crescent fresh beats.
