This was the first song we ever played. We spent the summer of 1997 playing this song over and over.
When performance time came around, we were ready to rock. Dan wrote this song for
Dana Blackstone for her birthday.
After our 'gig', we wanted to get a good recording of "Maybe" before the summer was up, so we spent hours working
on the damn song, and finally we got an end result that sounded pretty good.
Lyrics: Dan Davenport
when i first saw you
chris ballew spoke in my head, he said
mama mama mama ma ma ma ma
and just like in his song, about when strangers strike you dumb
that's how i was and how i am near you
so when i'm next to you don't expect too many things
'cause in my head you won't find anything but you
you say you want me now but change your mind every minute
you'll burn for another guy tomorrow
i could love you now and forever in a minute
but i'll wait and see if things still look the same tomorrow
maybe in a year or two things'll be much clearer
maybe we will be together, after time has passed
maybe things'll wait until your heart has settled down
maybe i should start things now in case this chance'll be my last
that's all that comes to mind to explain what i feel for you
and if i'm lucky then you're equally confused
at least that way we'll have something in common
i guess i really suck at explaining my emotions
give you one reason why we shouldn't start?
one infinite reason is that you'll surely break my heart
if you need any more than that from me
point the finger at my overwhelming apathy
how can i join in something that might hurt or make things worse?
maybe in a year or two things'll be much clearer
maybe we will be together, after time has passed
maybe things'll wait until your heart has settled down
maybe i should start things now in case this chance'll be my last
